When I think of a leader in a subordinate position, I think of a rebel whose sole purpose is to challenge authority without actively attempting to de-legitimize said authority. A ‘polite’ rebel, perhaps. A Canadian rebel, using constructive criticism warfare.
I am a natural leader in the sense that if I am in a group setting, and there is no sense of leadership structure, I will instinctively assume this position. There are times or situations where this structure is already established, and I often submit to that leadership implicitly; to a fault.
By focusing my will in the Leading while Following marking, I re-establish the natural leader within me. I a then able to act as a faithful team member by questioning problematic choices, providing honest feedback, and being unafraid of the potential social consequences of my questioning and feedback.
